“Everything is a file” is the most durable abstraction in the history of computering. But SQL is is the most durable interface contract.
It’s maybe not super surprising (in retrospect, at least) that we can get a lot of leverage from files and old school file system utilities. That’s true for human programmers, too!
Seems pretty clear we will need something like SQL, too, though. A data query standard for agents that abstracts both storage and optimization. Maybe that will turn out to actually be SQL, or maybe not.

Everything is moving to git backed files accessible via grep-type-systems or semantic plus grep which isn’t very defensible to offer as a service. In other words… the SOTA approaches
