Congratulations to the team at Deepgram on today's announcement. ($130 million!) As Deepgram's CEO, @deepgramscott, says in his blog post about the new funding, Deepgram is a classic "ten year overnight success."
We've been working with Deepgram for most of that ten years. I've always admired Scott's vision and Deepgram's willingness to make deeply technical, long-term bets.
Scott understood before anyone else I know that for important use cases like voice agents, speech recognition latency is incredibly important. This was many years before voice agents were "hot"; many years before most people thought it would ever be possible to build truly conversational voice AI.
Deepgram's recent releases are pointed towards solving bigger and bigger pieces of this conversational voice challenge, what Scott calls "the audio Turing test:" intent, emotion, tone, context. The video embedded in the blog post is a nice mission statement about this, and a fun watch.
Looking forward to continuing our working relationship with the Deepgram team, and seeing all the things they build next.
