My hot take is that today's chat models are pretty hard to prompt in ways that we don't usually think about because a) it's amazing that they exist at all, and b) we haven't invented the next thing yet so we don't have anything to backwards compare them to.

I'm looking forward to the future where for general interaction we mostly use the thing that replaces chat-tuned models, and a few people are hold outs who use the chat models because they're "the real thing." :-)
