I ❤️ thoughtful hot takes in conference speeches. This one is from @graceisford’s excellent keynote at @aiDotEngineer summit today.

… AI agents aren’t working (yet)

This seems generally right (so far) for “personal assistant” agents, web agents, research agents, etc.

But … at the edge of the jagged frontier, voice AI agents are being deployed at scale and doing real-world work. I’m no longer surprised when I see a voice agent log that shows two agents built by two different companies talking to each other, unexpectedly and successfully. (A voice agent that files healthcare claims talking to an agent that triages insurance company inbound phone calls, for example.)
